993 Motor Sound CAI and BMC filter for sale
I have an almost new Porsche Motor Sound CAI cover and a BMC reusable air filter. I had this on my car for a month or so and found that I prefered the more docile sound of the stock cover. The BMC filter is a low restriction filter. I have a recharging kit for it as well. The filter and cover have less than 500 miles on it. I paid $200 for the 3 items.
Will sell all for $125

Can't answer your question, but if you duct tape over the air box holes you'll have your answer. However, your MS package includes not only the drilled air box (which produces more induction noise), but different (louder) mufflers as well. Changing the cover will not, of course, change the exhaust sound level.
BTW, I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding someone to swap air box covers (and/or mufflers).

Dan,
There is a huge sound difference between the stock and Motor sound airbox at full throttle. It is a very deep growl that frankly makes the car seem slower since the sound doesn't match the speed. Try covering the holes and you will see what I mean.

Thanks,
I will try covering the holes. I don't know about the mufflers, it sounds expensive to replace or exchange those. My main complaint is the high idle noise, although it is not that big of a deal.

Mark with all due respect idle noise and noise in general is something to be expected on the 993 and I think most of us appreciate that fact alone! Now if you are looking for stock mufflers hey I'll swap with you any day!
Bob that deep growl from the motorsound cover makes my hair on the back of my neck stand up and salute whenever I floor the loud pedal! By the way take your 993 to the track, floor it on third and fourth and while the tach needle sweeps past the 4000 rpm towards the red zone, listen and then please tell me if the sound does not match the speed!!!
