Thanks Eric, yes I need to have them tomorrow if I'am to get any runs this weekend with the car...Good idea about Glen, I will call him tomorrow if I get stuck...Thankfully one of the two dealers in Houston is open tomorrow so I cross my fingers and pray they may have the parts in stock...

Good idea Kim
Historical footnote
Back in the early Trans-Am days, the engine in the Shelby Mustang GT350 was basically the same as the Race Car engine. Hertz actually used to rent them. So every team would rent a Hertz car to have a spare engine. More than one rental car ended up with a number of extra miles on the engine that never appeared on the odometer.

However my mechanic was very hesitant to use a part that has a lot of miles on as well, especially given the fact that the track we run here in Houston places a great stress on the right side of the car. My cab had seen a fair share of action on this track already...To be honest only the thought of taking turn one at TWS ,a 120+ mile left hander, coming off the banked straight and having the front right tie rod fail was enough for me to want a new part anyway...
So...I was LUCKY and Momentum in Houston had one tie rod left, I picked it up as soon as they opened and took it to my mechanic who graciously worked on the car on Saturday... He finished aligning and everything and I was able to drive to the track and do the last run of the day...
Impressions? wow...a different beast than my cab on the track! The camber settings are -2.3 in the front and -2.7 in the rear. Ride height is quite low below the RS specs, both sways are set in the middle for now. Spring rates are quite soft for me to get my feet wet 450 front and 600 rear.
The car is so different that I get a ton of signals that I need to learn how to translate. First of all it feels very light and the steering response is so immediate that I was cought by surprise a few times. Especially the transitioning from left to right and via versa happens in an instant, the car has an immediate response to steering changes.
For my first run I took it quite easy so I'm not sure yet of what is happening on the limit, only on one slipery turn we have I got a tad of understeer , but really I hope today to draw some conclusions on the setup.
Another thing I'm pleasantly surprised is how the car rides on the street. I thought that it would be horrible but to the contrary the suspension is quite compliant and not unpleasant at all. the monoballs for sure make the car feel much tighter, it feels like one solid piece.
Again I want to thank all of you for your support and willingness to help, that is why Rennlist is such a great place full of great people...
I will let you guys know what happened today.

So...final update from the track weekend... I'm exosted but I have a huge smile on my face. Today it was a great day , thank God the weather held up pretty good so I got all the runs in on the dry.
The setup gave me kind of mixed feelings, on a couple of corners I had oversteer on a couple understeer...go figure.. In general the car is pretty balanced and I'm continued to be impressed of how nimble it feels.
The tires ( Sport Cups) are holding on admirably and after almost three weekends on them still have plenty of tread left. Also with the negative camber I run they wear very evenly... Tire pressures cold 27 front 27 rear hot 33 front 34 rear seems to work really good on this setup. A couple of pounds higher cold and i had some oversteer consistenly through out the run. Once I lowered the pressure the tires hooked up nicely and predictably letting go slowly.
So I'm thinking to go up stiff a notch for the next track day before the race and see what happens...

The carousel and the slippery turn 9...
Oversteer at turn 2,3 and turn 6...
You should have driven on the track...Some guys did not show up so you could have squeezed in..
Wish you were there...It was like the Vette club running and a bunch of Panteras with the Pantera club...One had a nice blow up of the engine on the back straight.
I shot in car video for the first time. Its fun to watch...

Danny:
I noticed you have monoballs. There is a thread elsewhere to the effect that stock "D" cars are not allowed adustable camber plates unless they are "pinned" at about the factory camber setting. If this is correct how do you plan to address this situation? I have the same issue. Also, do I understand you are removing the rear wing to comply with regs? Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.

Ted I specifically asked Lance Weeks about the suspension and the wing and he told me the setup will keep me in D stock. I will arm myself with that email when I go through tech.
Besides what is the factory camber settings??? 0 degrees? Even with the stock perches you can adjust the camber to high negatives like on my cabrio. In any case my current camber is not hugely agressive and I'm not planning to run higher than that. The regs are not specific at all and they leave a lot of room for intertpretation. I know I got the confirmation from Lance that monoballs shocks, springs and rates are free. I also asked him about the adjustable sways and he confirmed that as long they are not cockpit adjustable I can use any type I want.
The RSCS wing can be used without the top element.
Hope it helps!

Danny;
You and I have just about the same car. Go to:
<a href="http://www.autometricsmotorsports.com/pictures/p2.htm" target="_blank">http://www.autometricsmotorsports.com/pictures/p2.htm</a>
My Class D beast is the third car down. Plan on doing any Southeastern Club Racing?
BTW: is that wing legal in PCA Stock D?

Cool looking car you have there...To be honest because I plan to bring the car up to RSCS specs I got stuck with the wingless tail for the time being. For a dedicated D class car I would prefer a Turbo or RS tail like you have. This tail on my car does not do much I suspect that is why it is legal in D stock. If I put the top element on which is the one that provides the major downforce then I would be bumped to C. I plan to do the Texas races and maybe this summer the Brainard and Road America ones.
Good luck to you too!
