Post ECU needed.

Everyone,

My car is an (early) 1997 C2 and Porsche used a 1996 "unchippable" ECU (-008). Must have been cleaning out the parts bins.

Does anyone have or know a source for a reasonably priced 1997 ECU? Steve W. says the part number I need is Bosch # 0.261.204.649.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Mike,

See if you can locate a used ECU that's already been programmed. I managed to find a used Gemballa ECU for my 96TT. Unfortunately, it may not have the exact program you would like. Mine worked out great.

Steve,
Thanks. I'm not familiar with a Gemballa. What is that, an aftermarket ECU? And how to locate??

Mike,
The ECU Steve has is a 97 OEM unit reprogrammed with different settings from Gemballa. We got lucky with this find. Typically a 97 ECU is around 1500.00 <img src="http://www.c2turbo.com/forums/images/smilies/DUNNO.GIF" alt=" - " /> Check the slavage yards like Parts Heaven etc for something.

Good Luck.

Mike,
I bought a used ECU from Los Angeles for $900, had it shipped to Autoathority who programmed it and sent it to me. I like the idea of having the original ECU that I can go back to if I want to. I do not have the phone number with me but the gentleman I talked to said he had several. If you want the number let me know and when I get home I will send it to you.

RMEllis:
Thanks. Yes, if you could let me know where you bought it, I will get in touch with him. That seem like a fair price. Send me an email if you don't mind.

Kristoffer:
I will inquire about qty 2 and see if it will help with the pricing. I will get back to you.

Thanks guys,

I also have a 1996 993. So a 97 or later ECU is compatible with my 1996 993? Also I would be interested in buying a used ECU if you can also give me the info or contact on that place RMELLIS. Thanks!
