Alan,
No way is a dealer going to charge "only" $850 for a plug change, engine oil change, and trans oil change. I never go to dealers but from past posts, I recall others spending over $1K (and some considerably more IIRC). A trusted independent wrench might do all of the above for close to 8 bills, though. Even better, do the oil changes yourself and save a bundle. Or get someone here on this board to lend you a hand if you want some moral support.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
StevoUK, Thanks!![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)

Great job - I wish I had the time - one day ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I just had my 30K - It cost $986 at my local independent. It included the plugs, air filter, oil filters (2), pollen filter, brake fluid and gear oil change, changing the belts, checking codes and a few other things I can't think of. I supplied the oil and the belts. My dealer quoted a price of $1700

Mnnblu,
Yes 850 and about 65.00 of that was for the inspection. A dealer would have charged about 1500-1700 for 30k service. Remember I did the oil and brake fluid and pollen filters myself. My mechanic is an awesome guy. Only does porsches and has a cooler full of different german beers for quiting time/happy hour at 3:00.

I will second (third) that recommendation of checking the rotors and distributor cap. Mine was fried at 26K, and I noticed an immediate improvement in midrange torque and lack of stalling when they were changed.

Hi, I have also finished my sparplug change this WE and after a few trips to the different HW/Autoparts stores, I have found the perfect combination of tools to do this painful job.
I found a sparkplug socket that is 6" in length at Kragen. When the socket is inserted in the engine, the tip is about .5 in from the top of the engine.
I used a 1" extension (also bought from Kragen). and finally I found a wrench that has a handle that is 3" in length.
With this combination of tools, I don't need to use any u joints and therefore I can exactly feel the torquing on the plugs.
I will post pics of the tools a bit later.
