Default Was "Viola" a standard 993 paint option??

I've seen a 993 TT "S" in Viola but never any other version. Was that car a paint to sample order or is the color just that rare???

A freind has a Boxster in this color and looks almost black most of the time. Rerally unique color that would look awsome with grey leather sports seats!!!!

There was no "Viola" color either standard or optional metallic offered for the 993 per the factory color charts dated 8/95, so the paint you describe could be a special "paint to sample" order. The closest I can think of is Diamond Blue Metallic of the 1988 911 I had which had a purpleish tinge under certain light conditions.

Yes, that was called Vesuvius grey metallic. Do a search, there was quite a bit of discussion on that on these forums.

No.

I always find it hard to tell color from one bad picture but that is probably midnight blue?

Any more pictures?

This seems to be Iris blue metallic, the color of the presentation of the 993, it is similar to the Lapis blue of the 996 models, but with some more violet inside.

I agree it's more likely Iris.

I found the info, the car I posted photos of is indeed Viola Metallic 5454. It's just hard to see in photos. In fact, that's the whole point of some of these colors, they look different depending of the way light hits it. That's why they work so great accentuating shapes.

I'm glad that almost 18 years to the day after this thread was last active we finally have a photo of the fabled Viola Metallic 5454. Thank you ptuomov. And yeah, the differences between the metallic blues/violets can get pedantic, especially as names change for the same colors depending on the model year.
