Factory ones have springs. Aftermarket are solid. I cant shift in them or turn. Not for me. I used 993TT sport seats in my 94 speedster.

I am built the same as you and I absolutely love the PPs in my 993. 250+ mile drives can be a bit confining, but in canyons and on track they transform connectivity with the car, sitting in it rather than on it.

And with the removable centers you can easily play with them to tailor the look with your car…

Take a look at Recaro Sportster GTs. You can adjust the back rest for long trips

I have the Recaro Abe’s same. 6’3 slim build. Extremely comfortable and solid for driving on backroads and twisties. Also can change out the centers. Biggest thing is weight savings!

Love my pole positions! Have had them in the car for over 10 years. Have done annual long trips (400 + miles) and have always found them super comfortable!

Factory RS (964/993) are solid. Only the 964 Speedster and 968 CS have springs.

Dream seats in a 993 are pole positions. I've been tempted several times to add these, but never got around to them. My factory seats are in great shape, and offer everything I need (plus access to rear seats), that I haven't done these. But these are the dream seats, proper seats, for a 993. !

I have Recaro Profi XL since I am "full figured", but they are essentially the equivalent to a Pole for me.
I also have a 6 point harness without factory seat belts.
I have a 23 gallon gas tank and have driven from full to empty in one shot and found my seats quite comfortable.
I like the feeling of being glued into the car.

Obviously a lot of variation in consumer satisfaction here, you should find a dealer and sit in some bucket seats.

One note, I had a car with factory 964/993 RS seats with no springs and they are around 30 mm narrower at the hips than a Pole position but look basically the same. So don't confuse them as the same seat.

What he said. These seats are comfortable for long trips. In fact I have a set I can no longer use if you would be interested.

They are comfortable, in my opinion. I am about the same size as you, and I have no problem doing long-distance drives.

Thats my observation too
factory RS I can squuze into
PP are best for seat width
Profi XL which i also have are a tad wider than PP but that's good because I run the lap belt inside not outside like many do, the bolsters on the XL are also taller than either RS or PP

I am 5'8 and 71kg. the factory RS is super tight and uncomfortable for me around the butt/ hips. i have no idea who they designed it for.

One concern I experienced with the factory RS seats and have noticed with the Pole.

If you are or tall or have a long upper torso and want to use a 6 point you may find the seat's shoulder belt port emerges significantly below your shoulder.

The belt enters the seat back, perhaps even at the correct angle from the back, but it then makes an abrupt upward turn to go over the shoulder.

This to me seems to be not good because in a crash forward torso motion is converted to spine compression as the torso moves forward.

The Profi XL has much larger upper seat belt slots to accommodate a long torso.

That right there is the biggest con wrt PP, for a tall guy the shoulder harness holes are not positioned correctly, you need an absolutely straight and unrestricted fetch for the harness from the top of the Hans to the top of the horizontal attachment bar which also need to be close to the seat while leaving enough room to loop the harness around the bar.

most of the above don't seem to have roll bars or harnesses though so probably not an issue for them
