Post Spark Plug Wires Cracked

Hello all,
I just replaced the plugs and noticed that the plug wires have some cracking on the outermost insulation. My '95 has about 53K and runs great...no missing or surging, smooth idle/acceleration. Do I really NEED to replace the plug wires at this point??? (and why the heck are they soooo pricy, anyway) Any experience on cracking plug wires, anyone? (especially from those of you who have higher milage). Thanks !

I have the identical situation with my '95, and Robin and I swapped some emails about it. At this point, as I too have no ill effects, have decided to watch and wait. The insulation is several layers and quite thick. Thus, these cracks may be superficial and of no electrical consequence. Let's see what the others have to add.
