Snoops,

I'm not sure this is'nt a wind up but...

2 = Two wheel drive
4 = Four wheel drive
S = Sport package - wide bodied

Which basically means a 4S is like a Turbo but without the Turbo.

By reputation JZMachtech seem to be good but
a few people on this site have recommended GT-One. The prestige & performance www.911virgin.com website list loads of independent specialists around London

I think that just about covers it, have fun

Honest, no wind up.

You say the C4S is like the Turbo without the Turbo does that mean that the exhaust, suspension, interior etc are the same?

Also I have a Turbo Spoiler on the back of my C4S with gaps so that I can see the engine. Am I missing something or is it supposed to show bits of he engine?

Anything I should do or check to make sure I have no problems with the car (what should the average reading on the gauges be after five-10 minutes of normal driving be?)

Thanks again

Hi Snoops, being a Turbo without the Turbo is a bit vague. Here is what I know if the differences between a C4s and a Turbo. I'm sure that Viken/Robin/Ray will correct me if I am wrong.

Hollow Spoke Wheels - Only on Turbo, C4s has solid spoke

400 hp engine - I think that the C4s is about 300, turbo is 400+. The turbo engine has an intercooler that sits up where the spoiler does, and blocks the view of the engine from above.

Spoiler - C4s has a retractable spoiler, turbo has fixed spoiler for reasons mentioned above.

Suspension - I think that the Turbo has the M030 suspension as standard, which was an option on the C4s. I'm not completely sure about this.

Lights - The Turbo has Litronics as standard, optional on the C4s.

Brakes - Same on both models

LSD - (LImited Slip Diff) Again, I'm not 100% on this, but I think that the turbo had this standard and the C4s was optional.

Also, the gagues take a bit to get used to. After 5-10 minutes, if you are moving, then you see the oil pressure very high, the oil temp about the 8'oclock tick mark, and the oil level all the way on the bottom.

The oil level ( the gague all the way on the left, next to the fuel gauge ) will be all the way down when you are driving the car. It should come up a bit when you stop at a stoplight. Don't worry too much about this gauge and don't freak out if it does not come up. You should learn to use the oil reading on the dipstick instead. Check your owners manual on how to check your oil, it's not the same as most other cars.

I hope that this helps!

The Carrera 4S was not quite the same as the Turbo other than the basic body and brakes. In the ROW, Porsche added full leather and a rear wiper as standard equipment but that's it. Here's what the 4S came with in the ROW:

- Standard 285 HP DIN engine with standard exhaust (not Turbo)
- Standard G64/21 (/20 as of '97) transmission with LSD (not Turbo)
- Standard M033 lowered suspension (not Turbo)
- Sport chassis M030 was optional (same as Turbo standard)
- Turbolook solid spoke wheels (Turbo had Technology hollow spoke wheels)
- Turbo bigger brakes with red calipers
- Turbo body without the rear fixed spoiler

For the USA/CDN, this car did not come standard with full leather and a rear wiper. The standard suspension was the US M032 basic setup with the M030 sport being an option.
