Default Updated!! HUGE project update. New street look

Hey guys. Its been a busy few weeks for the UPS man. My project is coming along slowly as the parts trickle in and I find time to work on her.

Heres the latest.

Carbon:

Stock style rear decklid. For driving around town and also to emphasize the fact taht the intercoolers will be fender mounted.

Sunroof plug. Just a continuation of the weight reduction insanity.

Emblem for my large GT2 style wing after this project is done.

Turbo system components:

Swimming in Tial goodness. 2 50mm BOvs and 2 v-band connection wastegates.

100mm inlet HKS filters and new throttle body.

Flanges and 3bar MAP.

Fabrication:

New Jigsaw to play with.

Sheet Aluminum Intake manifold. What I've been making with the Jigsaw. Most of the joints are just tacked for fitment before making the endcaps but the entire piece will be Tig welded. Also this will save me around 35 lbs when compared to the Varioram.

Carbon fiber exhaust exit surrounds. These are to replace the Aluminum ones I had before they got torn off.

Lots of tubing for my fabrication pleasure.

Other stuff:

Candy red painted fan. To be similar in color/effect as the Tial BOVs.

Strongbad helmet.

DROOL... If only I had about $30k to drop into my car. I'm completely jealous. I like the idea for the intake.

This thread should be quarantied by site administrator for health reasons. We already had a thread warning newbies of the feared "993 mod virus", and here you go wrecking everything...

P.S. and I thought I was nuts..

Princeton, my due respects to your project and ambition

I am assuming that the stock decklid does not channel enough air into fender mounted intercoolers, so what are your plans to create a ram air effect when the stock decklid is on? I can see your rear bumper and rear fenders are stock without openings...

Also, how will you compare the flow characteristics of the manifold to assess if it is as efficient as an OEM?

Amazing work, best of luck.

Princeton,

Your car looks awesome with the GT2 wing but looks strange without it IMO. I think the best setup for the street would be the wing sans boomerang. The GT2 flares and front end just don't work with a wingless car.

Your intake fabrication looks very nice!

However, in it's current configuration, it appears that your low-end will be virtually non-existent while driving under vacuum due to the short runner lengths. Of course, if it's strictly a track car, a loss in low-end wouldn't matter.

Your car looks awesome!

Princeton
Why did you choose to fabricate a new intake manifold instead of using the original 993 unit?

Damn, now that's hot!!! Did you fabricate the sunroof plug yourself? What a great idea to remove the sunroof and put some carbon fiber in it's place. I have sunroofs in my other cars and rarely use them...hopefully one day soon I'll own a 993 and would love to take out the sunroof.

Princeton,
With all the work you are doing why don't you just put a new roof panel on the car vs the cf sunroof panel?
The sunroof panel is not ideal IMO and in my experience.

Greg, why do you think a sunroof replacement panel is not a good idea?
