Hello all, new user on rennlist, 993 forum.
I have a 1994 993 Carrera 2, and I am having some problems with the steering wheel shuddering or vibrating when braking at 40-50mph.
Can anyone offer some assistance on what the problem may be. I have had suggestions of the wishbone arm bushes, the whell bearing or warped disks.
Has anyone experienced this problem on their 993 C2, and if so, please, please forward your suggestions.
My car is going into the shop in two days and I hope to have some possible solutions to the problem.
Many Thanks

From my experience, warped front rotors. Look at the rotors and see if there is any discoloration or pad material deposit around the circumference.
How are the rotor drilled holes? Starting to see crack running away from them about the length of the hole diameter or larger? If so, might just bite the bullet and buy new front rotors. I personally would not waste the labor to cut/resurface the rotors; in my experience they just warp again in a very short time.

I will add a 3rd one to look at. Your calipers may need to be rebuild. I had mine shuddering and vibrating when braking and it was the caliper pistons needing rebuilt. After the rebuilt with the same disks and pads the problem was cured.

FWIW, my brakes started to shudder quite a bit when I was at Laguna Seca a month ago. After the event I pulled the wheels to look at them and found the holes in the rotors were clogged with pad "dust". I cleaned the the rotors well and ensured that all the holes got unplugged and the brakes are now fine.
