Hi,
Seems like we Rennlisters are the 'busy-bee' type. Just wondering how many hours you folks work a day. Weekends?
My regular job is a breeze, 8-5 without exceptions. No weekends. In fact, most Fridays, the office empties in the mid-pm. It is the lowest-stress job I have ever had.
However, I always have 'extra-curricular' activities during my off hours. so I'd work another 3 hours or so during the evenings (no Fridays though). May be another 5-6 hours over the weekend. But this is exceptionally busy for me as I am building a custom home and designing three more at the same time. So this is DEFINITELY NOT my normal hours. Fortunately, I really love architectural design, so I don't feel like I'm working even though I'm drawing away with Autocad. Occasional stolen glimpses at Rennlist also makes the time go much faster.
Just being nosy as to how 'devoted' you guys really are.
Thanks.
CP

I have 3 people on the west coast and 3 on the east. So as to fairly distribute my time and availability for my people on both coasts, I come in late for the west coast guys, and leave early for the east coast. It's only fair.

I sell Porsche parts, talk to Porsche folks, am designing new Porsche items, and race Porsches these days... I don't work at all as I can not really define this as work by my old standards But I find myself in the garage 8-10 hours a day....

Bob - I hate you
Nice niche you carved out for yourself...
I work east coast market hours living in CA. 4:30am to 3pm. Early but it's really nice having most of the afternoon to take care of stuff, especially in the winter...

On a regular week - 7 days - about 18 hours per day, and I get about 3,000 e-mails per day to reply to above my paying job... Then, I have my "real job"..???
While I'm posting this - I thinking I need a life...

I started my own company about 4 years ago as a sideline and hobby. 18 months ago I made it my full-time job. I work in my bassement and I am my only employee. Sometimes I work no hours, sometimes lots of hours. I average about 25 hours per week.

It really depends on the timing of the project and client I work with at any given time. I've worked as much as 120hr weeks for 2 1/2 months straight (although that was an extreme). Not including coast to coast flight time, I would say it averages about 10hrs these days.
However, now that certain other rennlisters (who shall remain nameless) have gotten me addicted to track days, I find myself trying to figure out how I can go to the track on a Monday..
(if I drive all day and take a red eye, I can be there by Tuesday morning!)

In the ofice by 7.30am, leave the office by 6.30pm, then entertain clients 2 days a week typically up to 2am in the morning (lots of entertaining/PR required in Asia to keep contacts). Nothing but R&R on weekends.

I'm crunching pretty hard these days but it's temporary until we release our product. I'm putting in about 10 hour days M-F and at least one day out of the weekend...if all goes according to plan, this schedule will slow down mid-late August. Good that I have fun doing what I do for a living. Despite that, I'd love a week off to drive the p-car down the coast and then another week to finish off designwork on our place....no rest for the wicked!
Bob...you hiring? sounds like a great place to work!!
