No - not if prepared correctly. Wreck me Otter showed the inside of his pad in previous threads as did a number of others (I'd do a search and find them - but - I'm sort'a writing code right now..?).. Anyway - the filler should be flexible with a retension of material similar to the pad itself. If you prepare the backsurface - it should stay in place just fine (like a fibergalss "web" with a flexible filler). Hard settind Bondo - my guess is - you are right.. But - I have no intention of using Bondo...

Holleee smokes!!! That's a lot of weight!!!

My thanks - honestly - I think I'll lose them... I need to remount the hose for the headlight washer (keepers to the trunk wall) and mount the sensor where the A/C was. Other then that - it looks like a straight "off mount" proceedure...

I'll keep taking pics in case anyone is interested....

Thanks again!

Honestly - I love my 993.. It's what I've always dreamed of owning someday... And - for $16K - there were some "warts" - but now I'm on the path of "upgrading" those warts

BTW - after the engine rebuild I did.. Ready?? From NH to OH - and back (2400 miles roundtrip - including the 200 mile "spirited" rally) - I burned a whole 1/4 quart of oil. Damned if I know where that 1/4 quart went in 2500 miles - it didn't leak a drop..???

Best to you!!!

John,

Please picture chronicle your way through your bumperette removal for us that are less than talented. I to would like to lose mine, but have no idea where to start to do this except take it to a body/paint shop.

Rock on!

I had mine taken off when I did the Cargraphics oil cooler. I took off the front plate holes too. It really cleans the front, IMHO.

The clear euro turn signals ONLY work without the bumperettes. You have to cut them down in order for them to work in the states...

The lenses are not held on by the bumperettes. Protrusions on the back of the lens slide into matching body slots & then the 1 screw holds it in place.

John,

I know that the body is still warm BUT...if you decide to get rid of your clear standard length lenses....I'd be willing to purchase them from you....

In fact...on that note...I really think that you should go with the Euro lenses...DEFINITELY a better look....hehe

Actually, one day when I grow up, I want to change over to a Turbo bumper and go w/o the bumperettes as well.....must.....arrgh...slow.....down...the.....descent...down....this .........slope.....

Hey John,

Early day for me but while you are sleeping, I looked at your front minus bumper cover.

The headlight washers are fully exposed.. rip the suckers off IMO.

Let's see what the consensus is now.

Well - to be honest - I didn't sleep last night, as I've been busy with the upgrade - and pulling databases back and forth..

Hmmm - headlight washer/jets..?? They never worked anyway - and the motor is shot.. For 993 without those washers - did the factory use a plug, or were the fenders never cut with a hole???

Thanks!!!

I just left the nozzles in the bumper, but mine is black so they really did not show. I then removed the washer tank. Saves about 10 lbs of plastic and 2 small motors. Also saves another 6 lbs since it requires almost a gallon of fluid to keep the low fluid light from coming on. So a 16 lb savings high in the fender and far forward. Go John Go...... Take it out......

Sorry John..

Did not know it reduced weight so much.

The RS does not have any light washer holes. Go for it, your path is open.

BTW, great job for this board. Think me not alone in thinking this. Well done mate.
