Alternator shaft broken!

Alternator shaft broken!
This AM, on the way to work the alternator shaft went with a big bang. Towed it back home with a tie down strap behing the M-class....... (Now I know why I need an SUV:-)
Ofcourse the parts are not available and I get to ride my bike until part come in on Friday (hopefully) next week...
The fan and the remainder of the shaft are solid with each other..... The shaft is sheared very neatly partially inside the front bearing of the alternator. Anyone have this happen?
