When I took out the spare tire the other day to install Gert's FPB, I noticed some areas that seemed to be either rust or the results of an old acid leak.

1. How can I determine if it is the result of an acid leak?
2. I'm planning on puting in an Optima battery, so how do I best prepare the area if it was an acid leak - Is there something available that will neutralize the acid spill effects? Is there a spray paint to use over it?
