My tach shorts out when i turn on my headlights (HID) and only comes back on if i restart the engine.
This is particularly distressing when i encounter tropical rain and need to see and be seen.
didnt see anything similar in the archives
anyone else got that problem? or suggestions?

Is your HID headlights the factory litronics or aftermarket?

Can you describe in more detail what do you mean when you say the tach shorts out?

The HID is factory...
well... when i turn the switch to display, the tach remains steady...
when i turn it to full head lights, the tach drops to zero and never comes back unless i restart the car... with the lights on.
