I bought the bergville HID and they are terrible. Worse the sylvania LED bulbs. I’d steer clear

hi Andy, yup that’s correct about the ballast mounted in the trunk but it doesn’t really take up any noticeable space. My mechanic at the time did struggle installing it, but eventually figured it out.

Looks like LED bulb tech has progressed since I last checked. Porsche Classic is offering H4 and H7 bulbs for reflector-style headlights.

I did this early in my ownership. New oem litronic headlights were about $1000 on eBay. Ballasts were used - and used on many contemporary euro luxury cars at the time. Wasn't "invasive" and a great upgrade. Haven't seen litronic headlights being resold in a while though.

For the life of me I can’t remember the details but I did a headlight upgrade in 2006 or so. It wasn’t factory litronics. It was some early aftermarket kit that Robin and Chris installed for me.
but I don’t know what we did so I’m apprehensive to even consider another upgrade.
All I know is it’s not stock.

anyone remember back in the day what the upgrades were that we were doing?

Closer to $11K shipped.

@ch3tman shared detailed pics and pricing with me back in October. €9950 for the kit. €250 shipping to the UK, in case you want to jump right on that.

Wow. There is simply no reasonable justification for charging that, not even if the whole thing was made of crystal instead of plastic.

shipping cost tells you all you need to know about about the price gouging. I, as a person not a business, can ship the same size package with dhl from Germany to london for around 50euros

If it's any consolation, that price is for the rear lights as well (I believe).

When @ch3tman shared the details, there were photos of the rear included, so I presume that price is for all (3) rear fixtures and the (6) for the front.

Just making up arbitrary numbers to put some context around the pricing...

$4000 for headlights?
$1500 for fogs?
$1500 for front corners?
$1500 for rear corners?
$2000 for rear center?

$10,500

I'm sure the shipping cost will assure only the best certified professional packer will put it into a RUF approved cardboard box and seal it with high speed packaging tape. TUV approved, of course.

I am in the same situation - I bought Tore's T-light package with LED high-beam and HID low-beam. The high-beam is stunning (and the installation was a breeze), but when I dim to low-beam I have to slow right down as I can barely see anything! Worse than the original stock halogen bulbs that came with the car 30 years ago.....

Has anyone tried Gert Carnewal's H1 LED bulbs? Any recommendations here for a solution would be most welcome....Thanks!

Yep, I have, I’d rate them similar to Tore’s dip lamps (but cheaper) not at the same level as Tore’s main beam LEDs
