Default RS steering wheel

has anyone installed the RS style steering wheel (without airbag), does this disable the passenger side airbag function or set off any crazy warning lights? thanks, edward

I have not done it, but have been thinking about it. It will definetely set off the airbag light, unless it has been bypassed. I THINK the passenger side will still work. If you search the threads here and the web in general, you should come up with various ways to dissable the warning light (the simplest being to remove the bulb). I put in an airbag cut-off switch for the track or when I have kids in the front, but I think they are a little harder to come by now.

Edward,

I've got a couple of these RS wheels, one purchased from Gert Carnewal, and the most recent one from Sunset in Oregon. While its tough to beat Sunset's cost plus pricing, you can order one through any Porsche dealer.

The part number is 993.347.084.80.8YR for the wheel which includes the hub assembly.

Good luck,
Tim

I seem to remember the 3 spoke wheel being a Momo and available as an "airbag" wheel or not.

Airbags were an option for the RS's.

As Monique states, airbags were an oprion on the RS...Porsche basically reverted to fitting the standard 4 spoke airbag wheel from the Carrera 2.
The 3 spoke RS was standard on the RS.

I did this mod about 2 months ago. You will also need part number 964.652.104.00, this should be an L-shaped plastic/metal contact. Bought both of these items through Sunset. You will get an airbag warning light, I ripped the bulb out. You cannot disable the airbags with the 928 part number. You'll have to live with the light or rip it out.

Any questions you can PM me.

Cheers,
Andy
