While I don't believe I have ever experienced 2000 rpm... do you have a light weight flywheel? There is chatter down at this rpm with the LWF.

Are you sure your mufflers are stock? They could look stock, but I question whether they are. Check the mufflers carefully to see if there is any non-factory welding.

Can you compare your car to another "stock" C4? See if you can hear a difference at idle at WOT.

Stock mufflers, especially 95 stock mufflers, should not resonate - they were designed to be quiet.

2000 RPM is not unreasonable on a flat road with the car warmed up. As long as you are not putting the car under real strain it should be able to easily handle trundling around at this sort of RPM. These cars have such a lot of torque that they I don't worry about this at all.

The mufflers are stock Bischoffs without any visible welding. The tips are the stock ovals too. How about other possible sources (fuel pump, power steering pump, DM flywheel.....)?
