Default Rear Thumping Noise

My 95 C2 with 45K has developed a thumping sound coming from the back at speeds over 60 mph. Initially I thought I may have had a rear tire cord seperation. On inspection I could not see any cord seperation but I installed 4 new tires regardless as the built date was 2017 and the tires were looking wore. The thumping was still present at over 60 wtih the new tires. The car otherwise handles perfectly even going straight when the thumping occur. It has the original USA ride height M032 springs and shocks from what I can tell.

Hi Shimmey,
If it is an intermittant thump in may be a worn strut or engine mount.
If it is a continious cadence of thumping inspect the constant velocity joints on the axles.
Can you post an audio recording?
Andy

Yeah Andy I'd guess shock absorber or engine mount(s) - Mr Shimmey are the mounts original?

Any competent mechanic should be able to test/inspect both.

After that I'd think rear shock top-mount. But difficult to inspect.

Mounts are original to the best of my knowledge. How safe is this to drive at lower speeds until I can get it into the shop?

At lower speeds I'd guess not an issue at all.

I'm betting shock- they wear even with low miles over time. the motor mount is pretty stable and with only 45K on them, i'd think they're pretty good? but maybe sitting too long is hard on them too. Drive yer cars people!!
