Post speed yellow 993

I see very few speed yellow 993's. Anyone have any information on this colors availability during the 993 model run?

Thumbs up

Bill,

My best guess for a good source on production #s would be "Porsche 911 Red Book : 19651999" (Red Books)by Patrick C. Paternie.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...656227-4188721

EJ, a frequent contributor to this board, owns a beautiful speed yellow 993: http://www.pcarracing.homestead.com/

Jack special ordered his 993TT in Ferrari yellow: http://996tt.com/jf/

Hope this helps.

The "Red Book" doesn't have any production numbers broken down by colors. It does show Speed Yellow as a standard color option for MY 1995 - 1997.

Thanks for the info. When I purchased my used speed yellow coupe last year I was told this color was a $3,000. upgrade. Great sales pitch but it sounded a little like BS to me. After 2 black 911's this color was appealing. I have seen a few of the other two yellows around the events but only 3 speed yellow cars. Must not have been a hot color choice at the time.

I love my speed yellow car, but then again, who would say otherwise about their car. I have the midnight blue interior, which is a nice difference from the usual black or grey interiors.

About the option for the color, all I can say is that now the speed yellow is not an option price, but a basic color since it is non metallic. I am not sure why it would have been any different with a 993.

My recommendation: get it if you like it. Be ready to attract some attention though...

I had a choice between a Speed Yellow or a Midnight Blue RS. The Speed Yellow car was immaculate (90%) versus the Midnight Blue one being very good (85%) and I eventually bought the Midnight Blue one because:
1. I couldn't live with the Speed Yellow as a daily driver and Midnight Blue is my favourite colour
2. I couldn't bring myself to repaint the Speed Yellow car cos it would have meant removing a near perfect coat of paint!

Don't get me wrong, I love the Speed Yellow but just find it a little too 'bright' for daily use. I know a lot of people would have killed to be in my shoes and most (70-80%) would have chosen the speed yellow car.
