I'm trying to replace the battery on a 993 (1995) and was expecting it to be straightforward but after removing the ground and positive terminals, it isn't budging.
I can't find any threads or videos that are detailed, but there seems to be conflicting info on if the spare needs to be removed (and one person who tried that, could not get the spare to move either (https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1201744) ), and if there is a bolt somewhere that needs to also be removed. This thread says there is, but isn't clear on where it is and doesn't mention moving the spare at all (and even shows it in place) https://rennlist.com/how-tos/a/porsc...battery-377041
Anyone have experience that can help guide me? Thanks!
Remove the spare wheel, part where wheel is closest to battery ( under that ) is a bolt and bracket at the base of the battery.
Battery Bolt shown is about 10 secs, also around 1:18 mark, in this video ( found on a quick search). Also at the 1:18 mark ,you can also see the large gold washer and bolt that holds the spare wheel on. Sitting on the floor of the frunk.
There should also be a battery gas/vent tube, so pull that out of the battery (on one of the top edges) before you lift the battery out.
Howver this may well have not been re-installed when the battery was last replaced. If you find a clear plastic 5mm tube lying around in that corner, you'll know what it is now

This is super helpful. Thank you. Would you know if it is straightforward to remove the spare? The other link I shared (https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1201744) talks about how he was having difficulty getting the spare bracket to move as well.
