When turning the steering wheel of my 996 at very low speed, I can hear a creaking noise coming from under the dash. It has been established that the noise is actually coming from the right wheel area, probably from the steering tie-rods.

Is this a common problem on the 996? What is the source of the noise, and how can it be fixed?
