PPI results and tire (Dunlop) question
Hello all!
Well I am a very happy boy! Got the PPI results back from Black Forest (thanks for the pointers all!) and am thrilled! Car is as immaculate as you would expect from a 11k mile car and the price seems right.
Question: In the options code sheet (don't have the window sticker) is code 030. Is this the sport suspension code? I'm even happier if it is. Robin's page says this is "sport type running gear", but this is a little cryptic.
Secondly, it has Dunlop Sport FM 901 tires all around, basically new (200 miles) on the 18" Technology wheels. Any feedback on these tires? Should I make them change it out for S03s or Pilots? I don't know anything about Dunlop tires.
Thanks for all the help everybody! I should get my new baby next Thursday and will have an additional 2200 miles on it by the time I get back to Atlanta! <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

Yep, 030 is the sport suspension. In the USA, you get stiffer springs, shocks and sway bars, but the same ride height as the non-M030 cars.
Don't know anything about the Dunlops, sorry.
Try to get some <img src="graemlins/sleep.gif" border="0" alt="[sleep]" /> before you get the car!
Enjoy! <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

Congrats on the car! She's a beauty! Regarding the Dunlops, I don't have any experience with the Sport FM 901s (my Targa has Kumhos that were new when I bought the car ~5 weeks ago). However, I've used Dunlop tires on all my vehicles for the last several years, and always been happy with them.
Specifically, I had D30-M2's on a '97 Maxima my wife drove (H-rated, more a touring tire), and I had a Taurus SHO with Sport 4000 and later Sport 5000s on it (both Z-rated performance tires; the 5000 was the successor to the 4000). Handling was excellent, road noise was low, and treadwear was good too. I preferred the Sport 4000s over the 5000s, though, as they seemed a little more precise in their handling. FWIW, I also have Dunlop GT Qualifiers on my '66 El Camino.
When my Kumhos wear out I'll be replacing them with either Sport 8000s or 9000s. I believe the Sport 8000s were the factory tire for the 993, at least my '96.
Hope this helps. Enjoy that drive back to Atlanta! <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

Hey Jchanson,
Have a great drive. I'll be passing you in the other direction <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />
If your going to track the car, there's lots of great clubs and tracks near Atlanta.
Good luck.
