Post Type of oil

I remeber hearing you guys talk about oil that was not sold in the USA but you could buy it from a Porsche dealer. What type is it and is it good to use for the winter or better suited for the summer?

Thanks

That was the Mobil 1 0W40 which is now being used in all 996 cars. This oil is available at any Mobil distributor or Porsche and Mercedes dealers. However, your 993 should be quite happy with Mobil 1's 15W50 oil.

Why is the 0/40 mobile 1 not freely available in the USA?
Any ideas?

Mainly because it is still new and not widely used in cars.
