Default 993 Carrera 4 Rake question

I'm getting some instability when running above 65-70mph on straight roads. Alignment has been checked and set, including Kinematic Toe, tires and pressures are good.

I seem to remember that a 993 has a requirement to set a rear-front rake, is this true, and how is it measured and set.

I have KW Type 3 all round, RS Hubs and matching track rods.

Hi Jo,
My experince of ths is when the rear kinmatic toe is set incorrectly. I have found I have had to take the car back to the dealer more than once after an alignment to get this set correctly to eliminate the high speed wandering. I would let the guy who did the alignment resolve this issue for you.
I have not experienced or have heard of others having stability problems due to rake at highway speeds.
Andy

Hi Andy

Thanks for the reply

At the time of the alignment the KT was set using the aftermarket tool from Gert at Carnewal (apparently the Porsche KT tool does not support lowered suspension)

I set the KT to the middle of the gauge and ensured it was the same both sides.

Once the KT was set the other settings, camber, static toe, were al re-adjusted to spec.

Does anybody know if any different KT setting should be used instead?

The reason for my "rake" question was I thought maybe air was lifting the front enough to cause the instability

Thanks
John

....not sure what you mean by the 'middle of the gauge', but apparently the initial KT setting should show as 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock on the car - see attached pdf.

What exactly are the specs you are running for alignment? Castor as well.
