993 Color Question

993 Color Question
Hello All,
I'm currently looking at purchasing a 993 in blue turquoise. The color which is similar to riviera or Mexico blue. However upon inspection of its paint sticker I see the partially correct color code of 3AS, but usually blue turquoise would read "3AS J1." Additionally if it was Blue Turquoise wouldn't the color name read blautürkis? The sticker reads as a metallic color??
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you. The car is painted the below color. My question is, is the color sticker correct for this color? As it's not a metallic color.

I don't know why it says metallic but I can confirm at least a few things for you...
The sticker should not read "3AS J1". That is not a format ever used on the paint code sticker. It is the paint code followed by either 8 or 9 (always a 9 for 993's) and then 1, 2, 3 or 4. The first digit represents where the paint was applied and "9" represents "Porsche factory", "8" represents "Karmann factory" (not applicable to 993's). The 1, 2, 3 or 4 represent the brand of paint. 1 = Lesonal, 2 = Glasurit, 3 = Herberts and 4 = Herbol. There is also sometimes a "WBL" after the paint brand digit which means "water based lacquer".
"J1" is an "auxiliary paint code" used by paint suppliers but would not be on the sticker. So "3AS 9 4" is correct. FYI, blue turquoise also came in paint code "3AR". As for why it says metallic, not sure. Agree that color is not metallic, so it's puzzling to include in the name on the sticker.
Maybe @wongdawg can provide a picture of what his sticker looks like? He's based in Japan, so I would expect his to not have an English name on it. Curious if his also says "metallic".

Presumably, some worker at the factory was responsible for typing the letters into the machine that printed out those stickers almost 30 years ago.
Perhaps Gunter or Wolfgang or Heinrich or whoever either didnt pay close attention to the instructions, or fat fingered the letters, or just couldnt spell, or all of the above?

Does this help or confuse matters?

There are two colours being confused, perhaps?
TURKISMETALLIC / TURKISPERLCOLOR:
TURKISMETALLIC / TURKISPERLCOLOR:
Which probably looks like this:
TURKISMETALLIC / TURKISPERLCOLOR:

You can obtain 're-pro' stickers these days so it's not a given.

There are two colours being confused, perhaps?
- BLAUTURKIS - a solid colour, highly desired, often mixed up with Mexico and Riviera
- TURKISMETALLIC / TURKISPERLCOLOR - a metallic colour (but not the metallic version of BLAUTURKIS) and more green in nature

There are more pictures if you click the link in my sig. Turquoise metallic is a different color than blue turquoise and it is more green than blue.
Turquoise metallic is L25D, like this car my friend bought on Bring a Trailer:

You posted photos of your car, in non-metallic paint. Yet your paint code sticker states 'metallic'!
It seems to be the opposite predicament of the OP @Ak3249 .

The first four photos that you labeled blauturkismetallic are actually turquoise metallic cars. Blue turquoise (metallic or non metallic) is not the same color as turquoise metallic.

Agreed. You have the exact issue as the OP. Blue Turquoise car but the sticker implies "metallic", yet there is nothing metallic about 3AS.
@ch3tman where did that info about "BLAUTURKISMETALLIC" come from that implies its the same as "turquoise metallic" aka "turkis-perlcolor"?
As far as I've ever seen, the "greenish" metallic looking cars you posted have always been "turquoise metallic" or "turkis-perlcolor" in German. Have never seen blue/blau associated with the name.
Back to the original question, why we now have two examples of "blue turquoise" (non metallic color) which have stickers calling it "turkisblaumetallic" is puzzling. Nothing metallic in that paint. Really curious to have @wongdawg post a pic of his sticker. Perhaps typos from the factory. I posted at least one example about that shows it as "blautukis" without the "metallic".
