This is an easy repair for DIY. I am still saying that all of these old original bushings have failed or are on the verge of catastrophic failure.
Any and all reports would be helpful.
Having all plastic bushings replaced in the gear shifter system, including the two on the shift rod that were deteriorated that caused the issue.

Wife does not like me going under the car at 70 anymore when I lift it on my jack stands (when she is home).....happy wife, happy life......

I can remember 70.
Maybe time for momma bear to go visiting or fishing for a few days? You can get stuff done.

Yeah, 70 was way back in the rearview mirror. Currently have two cars up on jack stands, prepping one for track duty. Keeps me agile. $450? Would've gladly sent the OP a shift rod with good bushings left over after my Golden Rod installation. EZ job.

yes, I have passed on several simple DIY jobs I could accomplish but no need to poke the bear I have learned after close to 40 years of marriage) my jack stands come out to play every now and then……

Rather play 2 hours of tennis these days) but if you sent the goods, I would have made sure momma bear was gone for a few hours)
