The interior is a huge improvement over the 996. Imo it looks like there is some heavy Audi influence w/ the materials, fit and finish of its innards.

I still think that is an awesome car. The rear doesn't do much for me, the steering wheel is fairly ugly, and I don't especially like those wheels (they look like a luxury/toned down version of the MY02 wheels). It needs to be lowered also. I'm curious to see what the aerokit will look like.

I think the design is great...all the details are so much less of a disconnect from the traditional 911 look (compared to the 996)...even the interior is more derivative of the classic 911....horizontal lines on dash, vent shape and location, slash grab handles on doors, door storage etc...
The headlights and "hips" are the best improvement over the 996...
Its going to be great seeing them on the road soon...

I like the design, as well. The exterior flows nicely, and almost has a real waist and hips ...the absence of which was my biggest peeve about the 996). And the wheels are definitely an improvement over those busy-looking things that were on the test mules ...simple, and reminiscent of the elegant '02 5-spokers. Even the steering wheel looks better than what they had originally laid out like some freak genetic accident spawned from a Cayenne parts bin. Hope the 997 really puts Porsche back on the map!

While I still think it needs the red reflector across the tail, it does seem like they improved the guages quite a bit from what I remember of the 996/Boxter dash.

I agree with PorscheDavid that the headlights and hips are the biggest improvement over the current 996 but it still looks like a 996 to me...kinda like spraying cologne on crap.

"kinda like spraying cologne on crap." - I like that
Seriously, it's not that bad IMHO. When I initially saw it, didn't like exterior or interior, but
A) it's really starting to grow on me
B) it strikes me as one of those cars that will look ok in pictures, but awesome in person.
Only thing that really gets me is WEIGHT. Jeez Porsche, forget the turbos, forget the heavy GT3 (although nice engine!), make a LIGHTWEIGHT 997 CS will ya!!
