Take a standard business card…any card. Keep folding it along the short axis, until it’s approximately 3/8” wide. Use that card as a shim…mine is in the ashtray until I need it. It’s an in exact science…but science none the less.

In the 1980’s at Cincinnati Microwave, when we finally tooled our own lighter plug for the Escort, we included a sleeve that users could slide in place over the plug so it would fit snugly in larger German sockets.
As I recall Mike Valentine coined our internal nickname for the sleeve, which was “marital aid.”
You can see it standing up in the upper left corner of this pic.

I hadn’t realized that our “new to us” 1998 Boxster also had the larger sized plug….until I tried to plug in my Uniden radar detector for the drive today.
but it did identify another USB plug that works well - the USB plug included with Garmin Dash Cams. Fits well.

I finally solved my issue today. Stopped by the Porsche dealer and they had nothing. Based on some ideas here I cut a thin strip of plastic shim stock I had from when I redid my Ducati forks 1mm thick. Threaded it underneath both ground tabs for an added 2mm thickness and it fits nice and tight in the socket. Forgot to take a pic, I’ll do it tomorrow.
