Smile 993 SHOCKS!!!

I am curious about shock replacement for the 993? I am currently just under 40K miles and would like to know if and at what point should we consider shock replacement?

The ride in my 993 has been quite firm, increasing air pressure in the tires helped substantially.

I was just looking for the sage advise of the rennlist team for information.

TIA
Bob

My stock shocks were worn at 10,000 miles. They weren't completely trashed, but they had softened noticeably. It depends a lot on how (and where) you drive. If they don't feel wore out, then don't worry about it. There are lots of guys with over 50k miles who are still running the stock shocks.

Cool

Bob,

I have 53K Miles on my '95 993 and the shocks are fine. I will get a new shock/spring set-up next year in the Spring (het it?.. Spring) just so I can lower the car and I know the shocks will be easiest to replace while changing the springs.

The hot set up these days are the Bilstein PSS 9 struts and shocks, and add in adjustable sway bars. You can lower your car to your hearts content with this set up.

Next on the list M030 set up, US and Rest of World (RoW). The M030 RoW seems to be a little more aggressive. However with any of the M030 set ups, you are limited as to how much you can lower the car. But for those folks who will only buy "Factory"...this is the way to go. All of the above IMHO, of course.
