Post Free USED SO2's

I changed my tires recently to the P-Zero's as I did not really like the SO2's.
So if any of you guys are interested and want to pay the shipping or pick them up the rear tires are in very good shape with at least 60% tread left on them. The front ones are shot and I would not mount them again but I think that if one of you use SO2's you can put the rears to good use.
The size is stock 255/40/17.

By the way my rear P-Zeros almost lost half of their tread from one DE event!!!!!!! I've covered less than 1000 miles since I put them on!!!Also they needed to be rebalanced....Alas it was a great deal and they stick like glue on the dry...
Maybe it was Robert's fault! He drove the doors of my car! LOL

Danny, I've got a good pair of fronts that I'd love to have a set of rears for. I'm the perfect candidate!

And, um, I just thought you were such a good driver you need to step up to DOT tires. Yeah, that's the ticket, I was just helping you use up those Pirellis...

Robert knows all...the cheapo solution is a set of 7" and 9" X 17" Cup Wheels and a set of Kumho VictoRacers. The wheels are from $500 to $700 used, and a set of tires is about $700. You can get the tires at Tire Rack, and have them installed locally. This is my routine. I am saving those expensive street tires for the street.

You can drive the Kumhos to the track, better yet, see if you can find a friend to trailer them.

Great Robert! The tires are in Mike's place and I will be there next tuesday. Maybe we can meet there and I will give them to you??

By the way thanks for the compliment! You helped me alot by showing me some great lines! Next year I will be running those sticky hoosiers for sure!
Are you going to the TWS for the Motorsports club DE on August 3,4? I think I will need a new set after that event!

I won't be getting back into town from San Francisco before the end of the day Tuesday. You mean Mike Callas? Maybe he can sit on them for an extra day or two until I can get out there to pick them up...?

Oh, and I don't know yet about the Aug 3/4 weekend. Depends in part on whether my wife's working that weekend.

Hi Danny,

Which P-Zero did you get?

My S02 will be gone soon and I'm not sure which tires to get next

Thanx in advance

Ok Robert I'll tell Mike to hold them for you.

Pin, I got Assymetrico's front and rear. They are the classic P-Zero's not the Rosso and I do swear by them on the dry. On the wet is another story!
Anir on another thread has the P-Zero C's which are R compound and he likes them very much in both dry and damp conditions.

If you want performance in the wet then my tires will not be your answer. I do not really drive my 993 unless I have to in the rain so it does not matter. The assymetricos in 225/45/17 had a fantastic price of 128 per tire so the whole tire package cost me 630 bucks which is not bad at all!

Wow! That's a great price for Pirellis. Shame they haven't lasted that long, though . I'm going to hit Matt up to pickup those tires for me while he's out there, thanks again.

Hi Danny,

Thanx for the reply

In that case, I'll try the P-Zero Assymetrico after my S02s are gone then. Thanx for your input, Danny. I don't drive my car in the rain that much either.

I don't think the Corsa are available in the States yet.

Btw do you know what N1, N2 and N3 means?

Pin, I know Viken is the Guru on the designations and there were a couple of threads for the designation. The N's are the approval for the tires by Porsche. So they started with N0, then N1 N2 as new tires got approved.
According to the designations the P-Zero's combo that should be mounted on 17"s is as follows:
205/50/17 P-Zero directionale N2
255/40/17 P-Zero assymetrico N2.

I got some advise from this board that I should go for assymetricos both front and rear for ultimate handling on the dry as the direzionales up front are designed to help wet handling by literally plowing the way through the water for the rears! Like I said in the past I wanted dry handling and with the DE's in mind I went for both assyms front and rear. Also I remembered an older thread that said that going for 225/45 up front helps cut a bit the inherent understeer and there are no fitting problems with the stock rims. So I looked at the known big website for tires ( not a list sponsor) and decided on moving that direction. The fact that they had on a special the fronts at 128 a piece helped a lot too!!!
So I mounted 225/45 assymetricos up front with no Porsche designation and the 255/40 on the back which are N2.

On the dry track and street the combo along with my new H&R suspension proved to be the right move. They stick like glue , no understeer and I like how before they let go you have warning signs...

Someone said that new tires are not nesessarily better for a car that was designed and tested with different tires when it was new. I tend to agree with them! And at these prices for older technology tires I dont mind going through them at the rate I do

Yes, N1 is a revision of N0 and so on.

Actually, Porsche only installs the Asimmetrico version of the P-Zero on the 911. It is the Boxster which gets the Direzionale's in front.

Hey, speaking of which you were the slow man out last time at kartzone - when will you be painting your calipers pink?
