Friends, I have found a 911I am interested in buying. Might I ask for a recommendation for a mechanic/shop to do a PPI on the car on Long Island-and how much should this cost. Thank you so much for your time.
Regards,
Jordan

Hi Jordan - Some shops that have good reputations in the Metro PCA and/or are active at the track:
German Auto Repair Technicians in Amityville
G.T.R. Motorsports in Huntington
Lynmor in Huntington
Rennwerke in Elmsford
Rudtners in Freeport (?)
Silver Star Porsche in Roslyn
There are many, many other independents and dealerships in the area that I'm sure have excellent reputations, but these are the ones that I'm most familiar with. Cost should be between $150-$400 (?), depending on extent of engine testing requested (leakdown/compression, etc.). Don't fret about the expense -- the PPI is money well spent.
(No affiliation/just trying to help/this offer not valid in Hawaii/etc.)

jordan,
on long island:
formula motorsports, Long Island City, (718) 482-0515, owner Mark Tashjian is a past president of Metro-NY region and one of the most knowledgeable porsche experts on the east coast.
rudtner's european auto repair, Freeport, (516)378-8769, fax (516) 378-9663, Bill Rudtner builds and drives race cars, active in Metro-NY PCA events.
deman motorsport, Nyack, New York, (845) 727-3070, not on Long Island (about 20 miles north of Manhattan), Rick DeMan is another builder and racer of porsches, Metro-NY approved tech inspection site, this is the guy who works on my 911.
There are many other good locations, these are three who come to my mind.
