The other day I was looking at several 993s and noticed that none of them had the "backup" release cable for the engine lid latch. You know...the single strand cable that runs along side the multi-stranded cable to release the engine lid latch. All the cars I looked at had build dates before 8/96 (that would be model year '96 right?). My car was built in 11/96 (model year '97) and HAS the backup cable. Is this backup cable something added for the '97 model year and newer cars? I also heard somewhere that a front passenger seat switch, for disconnecting the airbag when a childseat was installed, was added for model year '97. Anyone know about these things?
