Post Paintless Dent Removal Photos

Here are the before and after photos from my recent parking lot incident. As described in previous threads, I received repair estimates ranging from $2200 - $2500. The paintless dent repair (PDR) service said they could make it 95% original for $400. I took them up on it.

The first few photos you'll see the damage to the sheetmetal and paint. The PDR guys did a great job with both. The only thing they couldn't get back to original shape was the fender lip. It was stretched when the car was hit and you'll see there is still a small crease in it just behind the wheel. The extra $$ save came in very handy!

Note: The Fikse wheels were off the car when the damage occurred. I put them back on after the car came back from the shop. It is the same car!

The job looks great. Can you email me the name and address of the PDR guys you used?

Thanks

Eric

Amazing result! How long did it take them to do the job? Can they also fix deep paint chip? I hope they have a location in L.A. area.

PDR is generally a franchise type of operation. Prospective PDR franchisees attend classes (see my post on PDR for a referencing web site, purchase the tools, and off they go. Those that are good at PDR establish a reputation and we hear about them. Go to the best body shop in youe area and inquire about PDR. I am certain they will have a guy/gal for you.

My PDR guy works out of Deshler's Collision Repair in Orange, CA. He contracts with Deshler's and shows up there every Monday morning for the PDR jobs quoted by Deshler's. PDR can't produce miracles on major dents but it does wonders on small to medium dings. I am sold on PDR and will use it again if a ding should appear...out with those dings!!! <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

Kevin,

It took them 8 hours to do the job. Their original estimate was 4 hours/$400 but they didn't charge me anything more.

The company I used does not have a franchise in Los Angeles so you might consider Martin's suggestion. Many services can come to your home or office if you prefer. I've used PDR twice and have been very satisfied each time.

Regards,

Matt

H20NOO, do you have any side photos of your car?
I'm considering those wheels. Thanks

Phillip,

Here is a picture. I have others if you'd like. They are great looking wheels but a b$tch to clean. If you are putting them on a narrowbody 993, I suggest asking Fikse to use 8 1/2" inner rim and 1 1/2" outer rim on the rear wheels (18x10). Their suggested configuration: 8" inner and 2" outer rim halves caused some rubbing problems on the fender lip, especially after I installed PSS-9's and lowered the car. I had the wheels rebuilt to the specs above and they are a perfect fit.

I had the FM-10s and found them very easy to clean, if you use the right tools / materials. I used P-21s gel, soaked per their instructions and used a home pressure washer (~$150). No scrubbing required. Dry with towel and some compressed air to get the water out of the crevices.

Mark,

That's my procedure almost exactly. The problem occurs if you drive the car within 12 hours of washing it. All the crud that is in the tiny space between the wheel center and the rim halves spews out at highway speeds (something about centrifugal force) and makes the rims a mess.

So my procedure is like yours with one extra step.... Drive the car on a 5-mile freeway loop to spin all the junk out and then spray them with a bit of Windex to clean the rims.

Kind of a pain in the a$$ but when they are clean they look awesome!

Matt
