Default Leland-West Dropping Collector Car Ins.

Since 2005 I have had my '95 C2 Carrera insured with this company. Also 2 other fully restored VWs. Been very happy with them with only 1 claim years ago. Just got a notice of Nonrenewal of Insurance by XL Speciality Insurance Company which they work with. Reason stated is they are no longer writing personal automobile insurance. Wondering if this has something to do with living in Washington State? Anybody else having this happen? What to do now? Any classic car insurance ideas out there? These cars are all driven under 3,000 miles per year.

Do you have limitations on where you can drive with State Farm? What state? Is this considered “collector car” insurance. I have my 4 vehicles with SF in Florida. The collector car policy with guaranteed value is very limited on usage with my agent.

no limitations and I have exceeded mileage some years with no increases…..very happy now for over 35 years with SF…..guaranteed value was easy - just sent in photos and a few comps…

I also received the letter from LW and went with State Farm agreed value, no limits. The rates were/are very reasonable.

I believe LW wrote policies for American Modern Insurance company. Try contacting them directly and they can point you to other agencies.

Every time I try to look up State Farm agreed value it points to their classic insurance, which is limited use :
  • Your antique or classic car must be used on a very limited basis, such as infrequent pleasure driving, shows, exhibitions, club activities or parades. It can’t be your primary use vehicle
  • \
Some links I get for SF even say "underwritten by Hagerty. Their State Farm Classic +, in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois or Indiana. .

Leyland-West had a long direct "relationship" with PCA, as their go-to insurance provider? Why isn't PCNA stepping up and in?
For those in the 7-states where it's offered, or was, check Porsche Auto Insurance. Terrific coverage and rates.

you should look into Grundy. I live in Washington state as well, and pay roughly $700 a year for a valuation on $70k on the 993, $25K on the R32 skyline, and $4K on the motor cycle. all agreed value.

I received the Leyland West non-renewal notice recently. .. Hagerty Insurance mailed a replacement insurance policy for the soon-to-be-defunct LW coverage, which expires on July 30, 2024.

The historic LW insurance cost (paid in full) was $1,362. for an agreed value of $175,000 annually. .. 1998 Carrera S, original owner, heavily optioned, 98% OEM, garaged, Colorado Mtn's. 2 -3k miles annually, low miles, etc... (Customer of LW for 19 years, never a claim)

05/13/24 Today's Hagerty Insurance quote: $2,440 annually. ..For an agreed $175,000 value, .. Hagerty can she-it in their hat's... Hagerty partners with; Allstate, Progressive, The Hartford, Nationwide Ins.

Shopping:
American Modern
Geico - Collector Car
American Collectors Insurance - Partners w/ USAA Insurance
Grundy
Heacock Classic Car
State Farm Insurance
J.C. Taylor Insurance - Quote today $1,347.00 year @ $175K agreed value, 100/300, coverage metric's of like kind as the present Leyland West policy.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it ......... Hello AM Best.
