OT: 95 Mercedes 320S
I read this board daily and respect the opinions of the members. Is their a good discussion board for the Mercedes? Does anyone have opinions on this car?

Tom,
I haven't found a good MB discussion board where the activities are like of the Rennlist board.
But this is what I know about the 3.2 motor in that car. It is a twin cam straight 6, somewhere around 226 or 228 horse power. I had two different Mercedes both with the same motor in them. The motor have plenty of torque even for the heavy S body cars.
I know that the 94 model year of that motor had head gasket problem from the factory, bad material used on them which causes them to leak at about 50,000 miles. Solution: replace head gasket (engine will never run right after that). Not sure if the 95 model year have the same issue or not.
96 model year of that motor as far as I know was pretty bullet proof. It did however always had a rough idle problem, the engine would occassionally misfire and cause a jolt. (The MB technicans said that was the nature of the beast, had the same issue with the 94 motor after the head gasket was replaced)

My wife's '94 E420 has been quite reliable, at 112K now. I tried the 6 and the 8. Nothing wrong with the 6, but I would not have it in an E, much less a heavier S. The 6 versus 8 price diff must be small in the used market.

Thanks for the responses, a family member has a 95 320s with 25,000 miles and I was thinking of buying it for my wife when our Lexus ES300 lease comes up. My wife only drives 5,000 miles a year and it seems crazy to keep leasing more cars. Any more info will be appreciated.
Thanks!
