That's exactly what I was thinking. Has it ever fell off while driving? I have a leather cover on my phone so not sure how secure it would be.

I have magsafe case for my iphone and it held in place pretty well, but not sure about your leather case. I also adjust the windshield mount neck and let the phone kind of just sit on the dash so that helps too.

This vent thing was no good for me. Tight to get on there and when I did and put the phone in it just flopped down with the rotation of the vent. The screen was then angled down and flimsy on that precious vent fin. Sending it back

I tried them all and I ended up with Rennline mount and retrofit it with magnetic charger. It works best.

This. There is another thread on here about adapting the Rennline mount to have a MagSafe charger in it. That's what I went with. Works great.

I ordered the Rennline mount as shown in their product page, but got the mount with a new design (similar to the chargeable mounts) ...
Experience are not so good... phone falls of easily, when not exactly mounted, and anyway ones in a while when going over our here omnipresent speed humps
the old design is much better ...

Home Depot 2.5" high angle bracket...cut shaped and modified. Mount is a Salex MagSafe. I don't have it charging the phone as I do not care for the heat MagSafe chargers create on the phone. I do have a USB-C cable to plug into the phone for charging purposes...hidden and usable behind mount.

Heat is a natural byproduct of inductive charging and nothing to worry about.

True but there is nearly zero heat when the energy transfer is more direct (USB-C). Ergo, my preference versus a MagSafe charging system.

Not to beat this dead horse any more but iPhones have a built in heat protection process. The phone will shut itself off if it gets too hot. You probably run more risk of leaving it in the sun. These are disposable devices with planned obsolescence. MagSafe is the smallest concern.
