Odometer issue
This happened 1-1/2 years ago and as usual the original plastic drive gear lost a few teeth. Replaced & all was well again.
Fast forward to today when I realized the miles werent advancing. Took it apart, everything visually looks in order, drive gear as good as new.
Now what? Bad capacitor perhaps? Is there a way to troubleshoot this or just send off to North Hollywood or Palo Alto?
Its the gauge from my 964 but thought Id post here as they are similar .
Verify that a lost gear tooth did not fall into the mechanism and jammed it.
Also, could it be dried lubricant making for too much resistance in the overall display gears? If so I would think one could flush out the odometer assembly with a little spray electronic cleaner filling a small medical syringe with the spray and using the syrine to accurately place the solvent. Use care to not get any on the speedo mechanism. One can consider very lightly lubing it with a little spray of silicone or Teflon applied with a Q-Tip swab.
