Would this bother You?
I know it bothers me: I hit a pothole on my 95 993 C4 and hit the front end out of alignment. I brought it to the local dealer 60 miles away and after having all 4 rims repaired and new tires placed the car was delivered to me(I went to pick it up and it was not ready because of a parts blunder). Upon driving the car I noticed that the bottom middle of the steering wheel is at 6-7 O:clock when driving straight. When I asked the service coordinator he said this is acceptable and actually I saved 500 in by not performing an unnecessary alignment.
Am I being too sensitive? I like to have the wheel straight when driving straight otherwise things just feel off!

Maybe I dont understand, but did you get an alignment? If so, take it back for them to center the wheel.
Then again, since the wheel is not where it was, I have to assume they aligned the car, if not, you have bent toe links from that pothole..

If my wheel is not spot on DEAD center and the car does not track straight, it drives me insane. I'd take it back. Sounds like they just need to center your steering wheel.

Been there, done that, took it back. If you are not completely annoyed by it right now, just wait until you drive it more. It'll annoy the heck out of you. Take it back and request they complete the job.
If they are quoting you $500 for an alignment, you should probably not make yourself a repeat customer. That is way way WAY high.

Yeah, it bothers me too when it's not perfectly straight at 12 o'clock!

It would bother me.
Does it tilt to the left or the right? If it's to the right, think of it this way: rally drivers often have the wheel tilted so that their right hand is a tiny bit closer to the shifter, helping save some time for them.

Been there done that. My steering wheel was slightly off when I bough the car (6:15 - 6:20) - drove me absolutely nuts. That was the first thing I got fixed. $500 for an alignment is waaaaay too much.

Would it bother me ? aahh...that's an understatment.
Any Porsche Dealer that tells you the steering wheel not centered "is considered acceptable" is whacked.
$500 for an alignment ?? Can you say price gouging......Euroclassics Porsche here in Richmond charges $119 bucks......my car tracks straight as an arrow !!!!!

The wheel should be centered, and the dealer should be able to tell you if there was suspension damage from the pothole. A 4 wheel alignment for me is $200.

If it were me, I would go bonkers. I just changed to a three spoke steering wheel and made absolutely sure that everything was centered before doing the installation. If they did not charge you for the alignment I would personnally go elsewhere-ask other owners for a local shop or other dealership. Also, if this is the quality of the service department I would not go back there.

I wholeheartedly concur with everyone on this thread; it would drive me insane... I took several of my cars back when I got them back from full wheel alignments and the wheel was just a fraction off of center; they fixed them at no charge every time...

geez.. if they are charging $500 for an alignment.. that better include corner balance AND proper alignment including proper REAR alignment!
Yes, it would drive me nuts!
My dad has been driving his caravan around for 3 years with the steering wheel off center and even that drives me nuts when I borrow it to haul stuff!
