Post Just had monoball installed...

Just had monoball installed, front and back. I really like the more precise feeling. The car is not at all harder (then it was already...)

They are from Sportec, a Swiss tuner which works together with Porsche AG in Switzerland. They got them from a German company, will try and find out which company next week.

Monoball = stiffer suspension links(instead of rubber)

Could have been FVD, the pictures look very similar to the ones on their website.... http://www.fvd.de/fvd_en.htm

It won't display the full page link, so navigate to the page via the following "buttons"....
Online Catalog
Tuning
Suspension
Schocks (sic) & Springs
then scroll down the page to "FVD-Camber Plates"

I've been looking for some to use in conjunction with the PSS-9 kit.
OEM RS monoballs are VERY unecessarily (IMHO)expensive.

way to go on the Camber plates 993RS. Radar....what they do is eliminate any play or slop at the top of the front & rear shocks where they attach to the front & rear unibody on any 911. You get better response and sharper input & better feel than the rubber stock set-up. They install the rubber as the factory wants supreme isolation from any and all noise and potential vibration to maximize sales and customer satisfaction. Porsche is conseravtive in their street cars set-up as owners often want "numb -comfort oreinted cars" like Mercedes SLs and Lexus SC and if 911/993s/996s had monoballs many non peformance enthusiasts might object. Lastly thos CNC machined monoballs are expensive versus the rubber stock pieces.
Have a great day
Joe

Thanks Joe. Yes, I really like them. The car really feels as one piece now.

No they are not noisy at all. The only difference I notice is an improvement in handling.

You're obviously a hardcore kind of guy... I mean, getting the 993RS tricked out from stock Carrera ain't most people's idea (even most listers) of a standard upgrade route.

SO!... give people like me (who are halfway as crazy, but just as committed as you ) a real world view on the monoballs will you?

I am just about to get the PSS-9's fitted (if Bl**dy Bilstein will give them to Gert) and I am wondering if the monoballs are a sine qua non. If so then give me the word... or if they are 'racer-spec' for the road then please tell me as it may be too full-on.

Best wishes, as always, to the community -

Will

CupCar...don't be a hog, you already have a 964 Cup Car monoball set up, it is our turn now!!! I want details on Phil's set up...it is unfortunate the dollar against the Euro has gone in the toilet.
