Post 60K miles service cost

Anyone have a figure for a 60K miles service (done at a specialty shop, not a dealer). I'm looking at a '95 that will need that service so I want to figure it into the price. I seem to recall BA in Excellence saying something about $800-$1200.

That is about right. Callas in Torrance (independent) bills circa $900. I believe the dealer is about $1000. Add another $400 if you want plugs, caps, rotors replaced.

What are the mileage numbers you need to get the 993 services done at? I am looking at one right now with 43K on it. I don't think I need to do the service until 60K right?

According to Bruce Anderson, his mechanic friends say a "minor" service every 8-10K, and a "major" service every 15-20K. The only difference I could see was the major involed changing all the fluids, while the minor was topping off (except oil of course).

As far as the car you're looking at, it really depends on the previous owner and the records. Look and see when the most recent service was performed. I'm of the mind that regardless of mileage, if it has been over a year, the fluids should all be changed out (ie "major" service)

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of price are you looking at for the 43K miles car (ballpark is fine...ie high 30's, low 40's, mid 40's, etc).

Hi Nostatic,

The 964/993 $700-850 "minor" service was discussed on both the 964 and 993 boards back in July:

Consensus? No one knows where Bruce got the idea 964/993 owners are paying this sort of money for routine service every 8k-10k miles--it's completely out of whack with the real world, let alone the maintenance manual.

Wink

Mne was free exc. for parts. Then again, had to put up with those three jerk mechanics (name "Me", Myself", and "I", not that other famous trio)
