Thanks for the compliments fellas,
Mac993 & Carrera Mike:
I currently have Bilstein HD's and H&R springs lowered close to RS specs. I measure about 24 3/4 inches at all four corners from the bottom of the fender lip to the ground. This is extremely low and although I think it looks fantastic, I would not recommend going this low on a street car. Since this is not my daily driver, I can live with it.
Christer:
The wheels are OEM, first seen on MY02 911's. They are, however, made by BBS Germany which is stamped on the inside. The fronts weigh 19lbs and the rears are 22 lbs. This was a significant weight loss from my Mille Miglias.
Motion:
I bought them used from a Rennlister who has a 996. He has subsequently e-mailed me telling me that he wished he never sold them and that he has another 'new' set on order. 3 of them are in excellent condition and 1 rear has a curb gash about 3/4 inch long along the outer lip. It doesn't look that bad, in fact, you don't really notice it unless you are looking. I've already ground it down a bit and touched it up so its even less noticeable. Ultimately, I think I'm going to have the wheels repainted, something like BBS's hyper black which has a nice dark, metallic sheen to it. Price was $1500 which included the BFG T/A KD's that I mentioned at 50% wear and original Porsche logo valve caps. No center caps. I thought it was a great deal for the set when compared to what's out there on E-bay.

Have you considered rolling the fenders tho remove the last of the rub? I did it with mine and it helped a lot. Not noticeable at all and doesn't hurt the paint.

Rolling the fenders won't help my problem since the rubbing is occuring on the 'inner' tire edge. The front right tire rubs on the fender panel inside the wheel well, not on the fender lip. I hope that makes sense.

Looks great. I have those on my '95 gp white 993.
Love the ride height. I need to drop my car to about that level (perhaps a tad higher).
The wheels are extremely easy to keep clean. With the large openings between spokes, you can fit your hands entirely to the back of the inside wheels (even the rears that are 10" deep).
I have the Pirelli P-Zero's (225/45, 285/30), and so far they are great (2k miles). Although the big rears do provide a bit of understeer, just have to work a bit harder to hang the rear out a bit for fun!
I see that you have an 'S' split grill. Has anyone painted a stock spoiler grill body-color?

Flatair,
No, can't feel a difference in handling/performance with the weight savings. I don't think 20 lbs is going to be noticeable. I would imagine closer to 100 lb loss is where weight starts feeling noticeable.

Thanks jdoc7,
I've always wondered about that, as the 20lls is 20lbs of rotating, unsprung mass. One of these days maybe I'll drag out my old college physics books and calculate the real 'equivelance' of 1lb rotating mass on an 18" rim vs 1lb of body mass. Car looks awesome by the way!
