wanted to ask one more time before i order new ones. anyone know how these are finished, or how to repair scratches in them.

the marks are form a previous owner w/what i guess was a large ring. the ***** look good from the drivers side but are scratched on the passenger side.

I would suggest sanding (by hand) with the finest grit sandpaper you can get. Then having them clear coat powder coated. In order to do this properly you will need to disassemble the pieces as to not ruin the leather. Or you can have the parts sandblasted, re-painted and then clear coat powder coated. The second option is the best, it will give you a very consistent finish!!

Before resorting to fine sandpaper, you may want to try plastic polish (ie Macguire's). Motorcycle shops carry it as well as most car parts stores. It's a mild abrasive and is used to take out scratches on helmet shields and clear fairing shields.

It may take some time though as it's very mild, but it doesn't leave scratches. Let us know how it works out.

sorry if i didnt ask the question correct, the alu. e brake and shift **** have a textured finish the them and that is that is where the scratches are.they are now smoothe scratches in a textures finish.

i am looking for the technique used to make this finish so i can repeat it. and find out if there is any thing put over the alu. after it is textured.
