Limited Slip - ABD
Hey All,
Excuse the ignorance please. Limited Slip and ABD; was this an option on every year 993s? Is it worth it (plus and minuses), and if so can it be retrofitted to cars without it? I know the Limited Slip is a nice feature. What is the overall consensus on these options. Did it come standard in only the Turbos? Thanks in advance for all the help. There's just too much to learn about these cars! :-)
Cheers
Vin

According to Porsche: "ABD (Automatic Brake Differential) A type of traction assistance which applies the brakes to a slipping system wheel, transferring torque to the opposite wheel. ABD systems generally operate at lower vehicle speeds."
ABD and LSD were included in all 993 AWD cars while it was option P08 ($1253) on the 2WD models. A limited slip differential can probably be retrofitted in a non-LSD gearbox but I am not sure about ABD. It may not be practical or economical.

I have the PO8 LSD/ABD option. They only came together. I have experienced LSD working on one occasion, accelerating at low speed out of a corner. Rather than retrofit it, I would spend the same money on driving instruction, especially if you are new to Porsche's handling. I consider it a nice to have, not must have option.
