Default car feels bouncy. Shocks toasted

I feel my car bounces a bit on highway. Is that a hint of shocks reaching the end of its life ? Also I try hard braking and it does a bit of nose dive as well. Is that another indications ? I am scheduled for an alignment job but want to know if the shocks need to be replaced as well so that I can do both at the same time and saves some cash.
What is the best way to test the shocks to see if they are shot ?

I also notice www.eshocks.com has the Pss9 listed at $2010. Has anyone bought from that place before ?

Yep - the OEM (monroe) shocks are not known for longevity (a mild understatement ). When I took mine out, there wasn't enough pressure left to even use the old shock as a pogo-stick... The struts would flop in/out if you turned the shock upside down....

Either PSS9s or Bilstein HDs or M030 RoW would do the trick. Most folks prefer the Bilstein HD setup with Eibachs/H&R given price considerations.... If you do a SEARCH in this Forum - you'll probably suffer from information overload on these topics

No - I only buy from Rennlist Sponsors. They are the ones who assist - in no small way - for offsetting the financial operation of this site, and the fact that this Forum is even on-line to post non-sponsor links and info...

So much for the "Internet" being "free"....

wong,

John is 100% correct about the OEM Monroes and "bouncy" equals bad shocks.

Many here have gone the Bilstein HD and M030 Euro spring route. The shocks solve the "bouncy" problem and the replacement springs will lower the car about 1".

that is pretty well the same price as Gert's delivered, depending on the exchange rate of the day.

wong,

Max's post reminded me that I forgot to mention Carnewal (Gert). That is where I bought my suspension upgrade last fall. Excellent pricing and service.

Try AWE @ awe-tuning.com for PSS9. I got mine from Mike at the old price from Bilstein. $1899.

I think AWE sold out the 8 new PSS9s at the old prices in one day. I scored set #6. I put them in this weekend and am waiting for an alignment on Friday and then I can make a full report! ....with pictures!
