Post 993 TT Brake pad recomendations

Looking to find out best recommendations for street pads that don't squeel or dust too bad.

Thanks,

Todd

Todd,
I'm interested in the same information.

I just replaced my original pads with Pagid Blue (street/track) and was told that they wouldn't squeal....well unless I did something wrong, they do squeal pretty regularly.

I am considering going back to the originals and swapping out on track days unless someone has a remedy. I did reuse the anti-squeal disks.

For street use, I would stick with the factory pads. For mixed street/track, I have started using Pagid Sport.

Street use ONLY: Metalmasters

Track use (but sqeual like a stuck pig on the street): Performance Friction Compound 90.

Swap between street and track events. 993 brake pad changes are among the easiest on any car out there.

This is on a heavily braked 993. I do not know of a good street/track compromise pad (one that won't squeal on street and won't disintegrate on track).

Concur with Ray on the Metalmasters for the street - I had terrible squealing with OEM pads (probably due to constantly swapping in and out for track events, wearing out any anti-rattle effect from the shims). Anyway, swapped to Metalmasters - fine for street braking and no squeal.

For track, try Pagid Orange, or Pagid Black - Black more aggresive than Orange. I like Black, found they last well and give consistent pedal feel - I felt the Oranges were a bit "grabby". Haven't been able to tell whether they wear rotors aggresively or not.

FWIW Autozone sells a nice Street pad for the TT big Reds, you must ask them to order them and make sure to ask for the pads for the 1997 AWD TT or you end up with 964 C2 Turbo pads. I believe they also sell them for a NA 993 ( smaller pads) I believe they cost a total of 75-80$ to do the whole car on the Big Reds and they feature a lifetime warranty! They also sell the Alternator and AC compressor for the 993(also lifetime warranty)

Forgot to mention the Alternator and AC compressor are very nicely priced! Cant remember exactly but it is a huge difference.
