Default Plastic part on rear axle

Does anybody know for what is that cover?
Is it only for dust cover or is for ar flow or for cooling the brakes?

Does it have part# 993331311303?

The plastic cover on the rear toe arm, rearmost bottom, is used to locate the factory KT tool during an alignment.

I don't know of anyone doing alignments that way anymore, everyone uses the Motorsports tool that hangs off the brake caliper mounting bolts.

Hi Bill,
The KT tool is a nice piece of unobtainium in the aftermarket and seeing at this point most air-cooled servicing is done by independents as you say the tool is not used much.
I always wondered if one purchased a $25 electronic tilt gauge and calibrated it against a KT or the Motorsports tool it would be a viable option for this purpose.

probably it would be fine you would want a fore/aft positioning for the level though

You can get a sense just from looking at the fore/aft position of the wheel in the well opening
the more forward the more KT is imposed

Hi Harold,
Yes, the tool you point to in your reply is the go-to answer in the aftermarket.
I was speaking of the Dealer Only tool:
