Post Fikse FM 10 with hairline crack in center spoke

I recently noticed that my rear Fiske FM 10 wheel has developed a hairline crack through one of the spokes in the center hub. Has anyone else had this probelm occur?

Any safety issues with this. Anyone know of Fiske will fix this?

TIA

Todd

Hi Todd:

Good Lord, that's NOT good at all. Call Jim Fikse at 253.872.3888 and tell him what happened.

They do not allow field repairs and will insist that the wheel be returned for a new center. He will also ask you all about your wheel torque settings.

I too, hope they warranty the wheel but I cannot find their written policies on that.

Please keep me posted!

I JUST NOTICED THIS SAME PROBLEM ON MY REAR 18x10 Fikse FM-5 Wheels.... I talked to Mike Fikse earlier as soon as I found the problem and need to ship them in.. It is so wierd because it is an obvious crack on one spoke that started from the inside out (isn't completely through to the outside which made it hidden from view for a while) -- can see it easily on the sides and back when the wheel is off the car...

SCARY stuff... It'll be interesting to see what they find when they analyze the fracture...

Are you guys running the Fikse's on the street as well as the track? If not, any OTE's?

From what I've read here, Fikse is very "customer-oriented" when it comes to cracking issues. Others who have had this problem have been very satisfied with the outcome.

geez... I sure hope this isn't the case! I had my former 17" fikse's for 5 years without incident and the next owner heavily tracked them without incident that I know of!!!

Anyway... I'm getting them ready to ship out to Fikse within the next day or 2...

i don't use mine on street, track only. and on track, i hit the berms a lot on purpose to get the track wider. and impact after impact i am sure it fatigues the wheel centers. i know ppl who track lots and had cracked centers as well. thus as precaution, i always check carefully. however, i am not saying that these things crack every week just by us staring at it. they are beautiful, light and strong wheels. but doesn't mean they won't crack. also make sure every couple of years have the bolts checked!

I had the same exact thing happen on my FM-10. I sent it back and had it repaired.
I use them on both street and the track. I was very happy with Fikse customer service.

I wonder how the Profil series holds up to the Classics. The Profil's are supposed to be stronger and lighter. I have Profil 13's, but they're on my BMW so no track time.
