Post Hoosier tire temp

Question for the racers on this board. This past weekend at Road America, I was getting tire temps on my Hoosier of 145,150,145. I am running 235/30/18's and 275/35/18's. I got these temps after a very short cool down partial lap (1 mile )and took the temps right after exit on the side of the road. The pressure was good at 42F 44R and it was in the high 60's low 70's and sunny. My questions is, could I have lost 50 degrees of temp in a mile to exit or am I doing something wrong with pressure not to get to the 180-200 degree target temp?

Eric:

I've found that a mile of cool down lap would reduce tire temps. Rolling a "R" compound tire on a cool down lap does "cool" it as well. The important thing is that you have consistent temperature across the tire. This indicates you're tire pressure was ideal for the weather conditions.

I have recorded the same basic temps. 42/44 is a bit high for a 993 I think. I find my car sticks best at 39/41 ish max hot. If I climb above that at the end of a run she gets loose. The right & left temps/pressure, front and rear are all mixed up depending on the track. Adjust all as hot as possible. The left front is hotest at 175 on a 70 degree day with the right at 155/60.

Whatever the temps, or when they were taken, Eric looked quick Sunday.

Eric,
Agree with what Bill said. Temps look good, too high of pressures. Depending on the track I will end up with 4 different pressures so that I get all tires up to no more than 40psi hot.

Thanks guys,
I was trying to be a bit lower than Hoosiers website specs of 43/48 hot. The tires were giving me some squeal/slip which was making me a bit nervous as my experience is limited with these tires. I value the "real world" feedback of your on track experiences, thanks.
