993 Targa top Stuck open

993 Targa top Stuck open
Help! the Targa top on my 96 993 is stuck almost fully open. It will move in either direction approx 4 inches and then seems to bind up. The grey nylon "shoe" on the passenger side seems to be the culprit. Does anyone have any experience with this problem and any helpful hints, I'd really appreciate it since I cannot get the car in the shop this holiday weekend.

Small world as I have a 96 Targa and work in Franklin so my 993 is there often. I cannot define the fix to your problem but I just had the experience of my rear window exploding and taking out most of the Targa top mechanism. The toof mechanism was completely restored to better then new at a shop in Upton. PM me if you would like details.
